Reporting to our Director - People, Practice and Capability, the role of Regional Communications Adviser is responsible for providing communications support and advice across our Lower North Region.
Ngā kawenga | About the roleThe Regional Communications Adviser will see you co-ordinating and managing regional requirements for internal and external communications, including for stakeholder and proactive media relations. You will act as a conduit between the region and National Office to develop communication strategies and collateral for the region. As the Regional Communications Adviser you will also work as part of an effective team to ensure the competent and efficient operation of the Regional Office.
The role will see you working closely with senior staff to ensure Hōkai Rangi is incorporated into all communications.
Hōkai Rangi is the Department's organisational strategy which recognises and builds on the good work we are already doing, however, it also looks to find new and alternative ways to achieve better outcomes for the people in our management and their whānau which will result in reduced reoffending. A key focus of Hōkai Rangi is the humanising and healing of those people in our management. Ara Poutama Aotearoa staff will focus on having relationships with these people, and their whānau, that are based on manaaki and contribute positively to their wellbeing.
This will be a busy and interesting role with plenty of variety. It will provide you with the opportunity to play a part in changing people's lives for good. Your focus being split across managing Lower North Regional communications and advising our Heretaunga Ararau kaupapa
Māori Pathways initiative in the Hawkes Bay. With this in mind, ideally you will have a strong understanding of tikanga Māori and will, ideally, be a te reo speaker. This role would suit someone with experience or a strong interest in kaupapa Māori.
He kōrero mōu | About you To be successful in this role you will have:
- Well developed research, interviewing and writing skills.
- Strong oral communications and interpersonal skills.
- Talent for recognising communications opportunities and good judgement in identifying and raising issues.
- Understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga and how to incorporate it into communications.
- Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of tasks to a high standard.
- Understanding of the impact of Change Management on staff from a communications perspective
Utu ā-tau | SalaryThe mid point of the salary range is $108,180. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
