Te Poari Whakaora Ngangahau o Aotearoa Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand (Te Poari) is a regulatory authority for occupational therapy practitioners. They protect the public by registering occupational therapists, setting the standards, ensuring compliance with those standards and taking action where concerns are raised.

Te Poari has taken significant steps to towards becoming a Te Tiriti engaged organisation and are committed to upholding the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Their culture and practices are guided by these four principles: Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga, and Kotahitanga.
 
Te Poari are now seeking a motivated and reliable administrator to join their small, collegial and highly competent team.

Reporting to the Manager Registrations, you will be responsible for the provision of high-quality advice and support to occupational therapists and applicants on all aspects of registration and recertification, ensuring they are well supported and guided through the application process. You will apply sound judgement to assess and process applications for registration and practising certificates in accordance with Te Poari standards, policies within a legislative framework.

Key responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of call for occupational therapists, applicants and students for any application enquiries
  • Check and verify online applications and ensure all registrations and applications are processed in an accurate and timely matter
  • Ensure all applications contain the relevant supporting documentation
  • Complete credit card payments and refunds of payments as required
  • Issue annual practising certificates
  • Liaise with and support the Manager Registrations with any general administration duties as required

This is a permanent full-time position based in Wellington Central. Flexible working arrangements and job share opportunities are available for the right candidate.

Previous experience working in a Te Tiriti led environment, or a willingness to enhance your knowledge and skills in this area would be highly advantageous and would ensure that you are well placed to effectively contribute to Te Poari cultural competency journey.

Person Profile:
  • Proven experience in an administration, registration, student records environment or similar role
  • Process and detail oriented, with a good understanding of processes and systems  
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building capabilities
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and demonstrated cultural competency and/or a good understanding Te ao Māori principles
  • Ability to speak Te reo Māori is highly desirable, but not essential
  • Good time management with the ability to work to deadlines and take initiative
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others as well as independently  
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • A professional, friendly and positive manner
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new and current skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications
