Ētahi kōrero mō Ringa Hora – About Ringa Hora

Ringa Hora is one of six Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) created under the Education and Training Act 2020 to ensure industry leadership across vocational education that is embedded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We represent industries in the Services sector including Advisory Services, Aviation, Cleaning Services, Business Services, Contact Centres, Financial Services, Hospitality, Local Government, Real Estate, Retail, Security Services, State Sector, and Tourism & Travel.

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position

You will work with industry experts, iwi, and education organisations to develop and maintain qualifications, standards and other products to meet the skill needs of industry including iwi and Māori industry. The role can be based in offices in Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton or remote, and is a permanent full-time position.

This role will suit someone who is comfortable in te ao Māori and has strong analytical and writing skills and experience in the secondary or tertiary education sector. You will love facilitating groups, implementing processes, and managing projects from initiation to completion.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and reviewing qualifications, standards, and system products
  • Facilitating representative sector expert groups through face-to-face or online meetings
  • Writing, editing, and proofing own and other’s work
  • Interpreting the drivers in the New Zealand economy and needs in the workforce to inform the development of qualifications and other credentials
  • Managing multiple projects
  • Analysing and interpreting data and workforce development information
  • Providing advice to diverse education organisations developing programmes
  • Evaluating programme applications from educational providers.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako – Skills/experiences for the role

You will bring:
  • Strong analytical, writing, and editing skills
  • Knowledge and experience of the NZQF and the secondary or tertiary education sector
  • Ability to operate in te ao Māori and a diverse range of New Zealand contexts, including vocational and kaupapa Māori education systems
  • Passion for the Services sector
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Perseverance, stamina and be solution focused
  • A passion to give voice to te ao Māori in vocational education
